Power99 is not a typical radio station. It is a development communication institution that operates broadcast infrastructure. Every studio, every frequency, every programme is oriented toward one purpose: using the power of media to educate, inform, and improve lives across Pakistan.

2002

Founded — The Communicators (Pvt.) Ltd. established in Islamabad. SECP registered, PEMRA broadcast licence secured.

2005

Earthquake Response — Camp radio in Muzaffarabad and Bagh — among Pakistan’s first emergency broadcast responses.

2009

IDP Communication — Camp radio during the Swat IDP crisis.

2010

Flood Response — Crisis and relief programming for floods affecting some 18 million people.

2012

First IRI Programme — Launch of Interactive Radio Instruction bringing structured education to students without functional schools.

2013

Ilm Ideas Education Innovation Fund — Education innovation with the Ilm Ideas Fund; collaboration with the Federal Directorate of Education.

2016

GDN First Prize — Global Development Network Most Innovative Development Project — Lima, Peru.

2017

BBC Global — BBC Global event; BBC Minute aired globally.

Najib Ahmed

CEO

Chief Executive Officer of The Communicators, with over 40 years of experience in radio broadcasting, journalism education, and media innovation. He previously served as a Senior Programme Producer at Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation and is widely recognised as a pioneer of interactive education and digital broadcasting in Pakistan, with expertise in constructive journalism, AI in the newsroom, and hybrid learning systems. He holds an M.Sc. in History from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, with advanced certifications from DW Akademie (AI for Newsrooms, 2025; Constructive Journalism, 2021).

Fakhira Najib

Managing Director

Fakhira Najib is a pioneer in educational broadcasting whose BroadClass — Listen to Learn initiative earned international recognition, including the SDG-4 Innovation Award (UN STI Forum 2019), alongside honours from GDN, HundrED, and ARNEC.

Nighat Parveen

Editor, RNN

Gilgit-Baltistan's first female journalist, she has championed community-centered reporting since 2005. As a DW Master Trainer, she advances Constructive Journalism, Design Thinking, Mental Health, Digital Safety, and AI-driven newsroom innovation while mentoring journalists to strengthen informed, resilient, and inclusive communities across Pakistan.
